Release 1.2.4
NEW FEATURES
- Settings page
- Found in the top right corner, right next to the minimize button, you can now disable auto-updates, both for Viper and for Northstar updates, separately, you can also change your launch arguments, and change which files stay after updates.
- Your launch arguments may or may not be reset when first launching Viper after the update.
- We recommend not changing the "Retain files on update"'s value, unless you know what you're doing.
- Found in the top right corner, right next to the minimize button, you can now disable auto-updates, both for Viper and for Northstar updates, separately, you can also change your launch arguments, and change which files stay after updates.
- Prioritize Viper updates over Northstar updates
- This means before we update Northstar we first make sure there's no Viper update, this stops potential issues if Northstar were to change the way they publish releases, it's an unlikely scenario, however it's a safety precaution we've decided to take.
FIXED BUG
Default system language should now be selected the first time you launch Viper, for people updating Viper, no change has been made, keep in mind we only have English, French and Spanish localizations.
Release 1.2.3
NEW FEATURE
You can now drag and drop mod files and folders onto Viper and we'll try and install and put it where it's supposed to be. This won't work 100% of the time, but if the mod is formatted like it should be, it'll work as intended.
BUG FIX
If you clicked "Install Mod" and then didn't select a mod but just cancelled the file selector the buttons would stay disabled and never re-enable, a restart was needed to fix. This is no longer the case :)
Release 1.2.2
BUG FIXES
- Bumped
follow-redirects
to 1.14.8 to fix vulnerability - Fixed a bug with the excluded files never being renamed back
- This would essentially lead to your
ns_args
files not actually being used, however they weren't deleted, and this should restore them, if you never noticed them being gone then this isn't so important for you :)
- This would essentially lead to your
Release 1.2.1
BUG FIX
- A Windows-only bug that would make an error window pop up every so often
- Dismissing it would actually let you keep using Viper, however it'd pop-up right afterwards again. I've still yet to understand why this bug only occurs on Windows, but regardless, it's fixed now.
Release 1.2.0
THUNDERSTORE SUPPORT
We now officially have support for the Thunderstore, which allows you to find mods directly inside Viper without having to manually download and upload them, almost all mods should be able to install just fine, and the few that don't are often because of the author's fault. Most of those packages that can't install have already been fixed. But what does allow you to do, put simply:
- You no longer have to manually download the mods and upload them
- You can easily upload, remove, or toggle all the mods with ease
- You can easily search through all the mods
This is overall a very big improvement, and something that'll be very useful! So we hope everybody will enjoy it. To find these mods, simply navigate to the mods section, and click the "Find Mods" button.

BRAND NEW UI
We've been working on a new UI for a very long time, a week or two, and it's finally at a stage where we want to release it, even if I'm mildly biased I will say it looks kinda slick and amazing. The UI is both far easier to navigate, but it also brings new features like:
- Release notes
- For both Northstar and Viper
- Prettier animations
- Various links and credits
NEW FEATURES
Besides the new UI we actually have a lot of features that we've released alongside it!
- Mod support
- You can now, disable, remove and install mods
- Auto updating Northstar in the background
- Very helpful!
- Various quality of life changes
BUG FIXES
We've also fixed quite a few bugs and other annoying problems, to give you a smoother experience!
NOTICE!
This version had a bug that stopped Viper from being able to work, however it was fixed in v1.0.1
This is simply a notice that this release was more or less borked... It is only here for historical purposes...
