Could the government describe in more detail the Special Use Data System (SUDS)? Is this a special purpose Oracle system or a database backend for a custom built application? Can the government provide any further information about SUDS, such as an Entity Relationship Diagram document, number of tables and fields, typical data requests and/or their size?

The Special Uses Data System (SUDS) is a legacy, custom Oracle application. However, the API will not need to interface with the Oracle system directly. The Forest Service will provide a RESTful service for basic read/write access with the Oracle application. The API described in this RFP will "translate" semantically clear requests to the Forest Service's RESTful endpoint to the Oracle application.
