We will not determine the specific type of authentication used. This is intended to be defined during the user research phase and subsequently, with input from the Product Owner and stakeholders. We do, however, encourage the vendor to follow principles outlined in the login.gov playbook: https://pages.18f.gov/identity-playbook/.
