start grid UI broken when creating writing challenges on v1.pixelbots.io

The PixelBot can be rotated with the buttons, but that's about it. Neither painting nor moving the PixelBot is working.

Things seem okay on www.pixelbots.io.

I can get the start grid to appear by

1. setting the start grid to display via the check under the more options button
2. switching to the advanced editor
3. switching back to the basic editor
