Announcing Allsky v2024.12.06

The next release of Allsky will be available December 6, 2024.
You can read about the major changes here.

We're hoping people will upgrade quickly. One of the goals of this release is to decrease the number of support requests, especially related to Allsky Websites but in other areas as well.

If you find any problems, please create a new Issue.
This post has been locked since having many unrelated problems in the same post is hard to deal with.

Upgraded. Got some warnings about non standard thumbnail sizes and scp remote upload possible problems. Saving the config seems to get rit of these initial warning. All working well.
Let see what happens tomorrow when a new upload is scheduled.

Thanks for the feedback. Did you get the warnings during installation, or when you went to the WebUI?

• If during installation, please attach ~/allsky/config/logs/install.log.
• If in the WebUI, please run checkAllsky.sh and attach any output. Do you remember exactly what the warning messages were? And what your thumbnail sizes were? I assume you use scp to upload to a remote Website?

I attached the install.log and output of checkAllsky.sh. These contain the messages I mentioned. Hope this helps.

The message about non-standard thumbnail sizes is there only because we never tested different sizes. If everything is working for you with those sizes, I can remove the check. Thumbnails on the WebUI's Images page viewing "Images".

Update went smooth without problems.

At Allsky Website => Display Information => Allsky Settings: Click to view I get the warning: "This Allsky Website is not fully configured so its settings cannot be displayed. It is missing the 'viewSettings/allskySettings.php' file."
I can't figure out what could be missing, Allsky Settings and configuration.json seems to be ok at first glance.

@DC1RS, is this for a Website on the Pi, or on a remote Website?

If on a remote Website, please attach ~/allsky/config/logs/remoteWebsiteInstall.log. And what is the URL to the website?

If on the Pi, make sure the local Website is enabled; that file won't exist until you enable the Website in the WebUI:

I tried going to my local Website prior to enabling it, and got the same message you did so I'm pretty confident that's your problem. If enabling the Website does NOT fix your problem, please create a new Issue with details.

@DC1RS, please create a new Issue with the same 3 screenshots above.
Did you check the "Use Local Website" box, or was it set by the installation script because the prior Allsky had a local Website?

Everything else should be working and it'll be easy to fix the missing file, once I understand exactly what the problem is.

Yep, upgrade went OK. There was a hiccup on the first install.sh - said xxxxxx may be running (sorry should have copied) but 2nd attempt went smooth and quick.
All the changes look good and more logical for the user, thanks guys, looks like a lot of thought and work gone into this version, very much appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback. We spent a lot of time addressing the "pain points" users often saw. I am hoping we will get a lot fewer support questions with this release.

Please attach ~/allsky/config/logs/install.log so I can investigate the message you saw.

Another item I noticed with the editor for website settings. When changing and saving items in the config, the green bar at the top that appears confirming saving of the JSON file does not have a way to dismiss the message. As a result, the messages keep piling up. Screenshot attached. The previous version had a cross button on the right of the message to dismissit that the new version is lacking:

I just upgraded my setup and it went smoothly. The only thing I've noticed is when I was playing with the new allsky-config command line tool. When I ask it to show connected cameras, it says there are no cameras connected to the Pi. I have a Pi HQ camera, and the allsky website is using it just fine, so something is going on with that command.
