Gentoo Appimage overlay?

I have put a couple of appimages into my Gentoo overlay, and have scripted the process a bit, in 2 forms:

1. Github workflows that build ebuilds for appimages once a day
2. A tool which generates those github workflows: https://github.com/arran4/arrans_overlay_workflow_builder/ from a config: https://github.com/arran4/arrans_overlay/blob/main/current.config

I also have a 3rd one which skips the github workflow stage, and just directly creates the ebuilds (and purges the old ones.)

I was wondering if there was any interesting (me simplifying &) integrating (and hopefully handing this over to the community) this tech with something like: https://appimage.github.io/

I know there is some demand for this means of installing as I have people who log issues with the packages.

I don't know much about Gentoo and its overlays myself, but I understand that you have scripted a way to produce AppImages using Gentoo.

I would suggest that you submit a few of your generated AppImages to the catalog as described in https://github.com/AppImage/appimage.github.io/?tab=readme-ov-file#how-to-submit-appimages-to-the-catalog

Let's then see how to possibly automate/simplify the submission. Thanks!

Sorry it doesn't build AppImages, it simply installs them on the system.

Yeah sorry. In short: It's a generator for gentoo "repos" (aka overlays) automatically sourcing appimages from github releases (and other sources.) I'm working on modifying it to make it less involved (slowly.) I think it would pair well with a project that lists app images -- does that make more sense?
