Missing git_last_commit information

So for packages that haven't propagated certain information is missing. Can we extract more information for these types of packages despite not propagating?

example.
git_last_commit information is added to DESCRIPTION by BBS so that biocViews repository.R can use default tools:::.build_repository_package_db to extract it in a nice format. The BBS extracts this information from a gitlog_file. Can we use this file to get the git information for packages not propagated.
