Look what I found in XFCE4... ...that pretty much sums it up IMHO ... but it's coming from the 'Emblem' item in desktop icon props ... maybe we can leverage that? I'll do some reading to find out how that mechanism works... ;) |

Note: I have the artistic skills of an echidna ~ my eye for small details still work ;)
I was just reviewing how mime-type icons look (aesthetically) on the linux desktop ~ I did mention this before wrt having to choose 'stock' icons for mime-type associations, in lieu of amiberry supplying its own icon files ... there's an interesting example of this I just noticed...I come away with the following observations....
That said, we don't add any mime-type detection for these file types ourselves ~ the mime-type
application/x-wine-extension-uae
is added by WINE when installing WinUAE on debian, and I can set that association to open the files with amiberry instead of WinUAE ...that simple.Thinking out load here, we could claim the mime-type
application/x-amiberry-extension-uae
~ it's easy enough to detect amiberry created config.uae files specifically, and in that case provide an icon file for said mime-type, so as to visually identify the config.uae file is associated with amiberry ....instead of the default 'document' icon. All I can see at present, is the document icon with an amiberry superimposed upon it ...ie; 'amiberry document file' =)The other thing that erks me a little bit, is using the amiberry.icon for the .uss mime-type setup....
All the amiberry icons, are savestate.uss files ....visually nothing says that, just that the files are associated with amiberry.
I wish I had a better icon to target, yeah? ...something that visually said it's a savestate file (associated with amiberry).
All I can see at present, is a simple/subtle change, like a 'reversed' amiberry icon.... ie; swap the red squares' position with the white squares, or taking a leaf out of the whdbooter process, an amiberry icon with different colored squares, just for .uss files?
What are your thoughts 'trifling' spit&polish enhancements like the above?
TIA
