In the COSP PMC meeting held on 11 January 2019, we had a discussion about updating the documentation based on recent community contributions.
We have had 2 or 3 examples of external contributions, and we have learnt that the path is not entirely clear for people, especially for those completely external to the PMC. Although the users have been very accommodating, there is a clear need to communicate our expectations and have all the discussions in Github. There were two conclusions from this discussion:
We need to communicate better is that they have to engage with us early in the process.
We need a minimal set of coding standards from the lessons learnt in recent developments.
We will address this by updating the working practices, and by creating a brief page with coding standards.
