Index metadata not retrieved on alias #1996
Description
What went wrong?
When running yarn django alias creating the job failed. This was due to update_index_metadata not being executed, or failing silently. The alias command also does not provide an adequate error report.
What did you expect to happen?
The index metadata should be retrieved before attempting an alias, or at least report on the problem.
