Getting involved in Chartability!

👋 Hello! If you use Chartability or believe in this project, we want to encourage community participation and feedback. This project is entirely volunteer-run and it needs a community to help build and sustain it 💪.

We are using this discussion page as a way to hold a call for participation for community members. We know that a lot of folks out there have used Chartability in the past, but most of y'all only reach out to me personally when you can questions or comments.

So I am hoping that this discussion page can be a way for folks to connect, while also have a place to ask questions and get community input (rather than just me!).

Moving forward, we are dreaming of:

1. Adding more resources to help people perform evaluation work easier,
2. Adding more good and bad examples,
3. Staying up-to-date with changes in standards,
4. Staying up-to-date with new research,
5. Staying up-to-date with practitioner work,
6. And most importantly: making sure Chartability addresses access barriers.

How can you get involved?

1. Anyone: Answer questions and engage folks over in the discussion section or even just ask your own questions.
2. Anyone: Read Chartability's workbook and find where we could use more resources and examples! You don't have to make or find anything, but instead just open an issue here on this repo so someone else can find it and help. :)
3. Anyone: Do you see an issue that someone else has mentioned and want to discuss or get involved? Nothing is stopping you! Make a github account if you don't have one already and jump in!
4. Anyone: Share how you're using Chartability in your own work, to help inspire others! Sometimes people just need to see a work in progress or before/after to get a good idea!
5. Technical folks: Help transform Chartability's workbook into a simple web-application that helps folks create documentation during an audit. Accessibility Insights is a great inspiration (but we can probably start simpler first).
6. Researchers: Let us know about how your research work (that involves people with disabilities!) contributes to or challenges Chartability in new ways.
7. Accessibility folks: Let us know how standards shift (like if WCAG 3 gets released and color contrast algorithms change).
8. Designers and developers: Let us know about your projects and how you've helped to design or build something that is a great example of something that should become part of the official workbook.
9. People with disabilities: Let us know how Chartability could be better for you! We currently don't have any way to compensate folks for feedback or time, so we want to recognize that and are open to ideas for getting active involvement and co-design work in the future.

Thanks again to everyone for helping us to make Chartability and using it in your own work! Here's to hoping we can keep this project living and alive. It saves people so much time and energy getting started, which really keeps a lot of folks from getting started (plus those that do have a high risk of burnout!).
