Most of Belize doesn't render

I was trying to make some maps of Belize using the Stamen tiles, but that area seems to be all messed up. For example, virtually nothing west of Belmopan shows up in the tiles even though that area is well mapped in OpenStreetMaps. Compare:

They should show roughly the same thing, but the Stamen tiles only show the Western Highway for some reason. What's more, the stamen tiles will not render any city or town labels for Belize at any magnification. It makes Belize look like a weird ghost region:

Any idea what's going on with those?
