Hi Moira,

Below are some notes I took as I read. In general, I would suggest reducing the # of plots in favor of making several of them cleaner. There are several instances where plotting the raw data aren't ideal, and plotting a group statistic (such as mean or median) would be clearer. In addition, there's something tricky going on with your axis breaks and labels. Without seeing the full data frame etc it's hard to know for sure why that is. Please let me know if you have any questions.

• Please fix the headers in your paper. A few times the ## appears in the main text, when it should be a separate header.
• I would clean up the description of the data. It reads as one very long paragraph with lots of numbers. Try breaking it up into multiple paragraphs and using summary tables.
• Double check the code that didn’t run
• Also don’t use view() in a document
• Earnings by number of graduates plot 1
  • I’m having a tough time figuring out what’s going on in this figure. Maybe you should try grouping by credential level and computing the mean or median earnings. A simple bar graph of those values could be a good place to start.
• Other earnings by number of graduates plots
  • Those could probably be eliminated in favor of the barograph suggested above or maybe a box plot, where the x axis is education level and the y axis is earnings.
• Earnings by number of graduates by institution
  • This plot is a bit tricky to read. In addition, the x and y axis breaks are strange…I would look into those.
  • What is being plotted here? Are these mean earnings?
• Earnings & Number of graduates economics BAs
  • This is a bit tricky to read. How about the x axis is school, the y axis is mean or median earnings, and you also fill the bars by school?
  • If possible, I would also sort the bars so they go from highest earning to lowest earnings by school.

  • Again, axis breaks are strange.

  • This is a good idea for a series of plots, though I think the data might be too sparse for some categories…maybe see if you can’t combine groups? For example - combine all certificates into one ( or remove the 2-4 years data point), and combine all doctoral into one?

  • Very hard to interpret. I would consider picking a handful of high and low earnings majors.
