I would really like to see that packages could be grouped based on repository or other criteria, a bit like aptitude groups packages for selection.

this would make it easier to distinguish between updates from own repositories, against common updates from debian/ubuntu repositories or critical security fixes.

seems it's possible to add ${Section} field to the package information extracted by apt-dater-host using the vollowing command

dpkg-query --show --showformat='${Package} ${Version} ${Section} ${Status}\n'

This would allow grouping based on this field. Custom package could get a custom Section field which would it make
easier to identify them.

We need to check if there are similar groupings are available on other (i.e. rpm based) package manager implementations. But it should be possible to extend ADP by the required package meta data.
