Searching for a fast way to get dominant colors from an image, i found this library. Nowadays webp is a very common format in the web given its quality/size ratio.

Be able to read and write webp files.

Additional context
I'm working with 1000s of images from the web, all of them in the webp format. In the python world, opencv and PIL have being able to work with this format for a few years now.

This certainly could be useful. Bio-Formats doesn't read webp either.

If you're writing Python code, you can always read the images in using Pillow or OpenCV or imageio. NumPy arrays are directly useable in DIPlib.

If you're writing C++ code, it's often quite simple to create a dip::Image object pointing to the pixel data read by some other library.

I'm happy to accept code that interfaces to libwebp.
