lcg_util for DIRAC 8.0?

I'm trying to understand.. COMDIRAC.nterfaces.Utilities.DConfigCache contain next pice of code:

def check_lcg_import():
    try:
        import lcg_util
    except ImportError:
        return False

    return True


def proxy_lcg_protocols_if_missing():
    if not check_lcg_import():
        # if not available, mark LCG protocols to be proxied
        gConfigurationData.setOptionInCFG(

• Is lcg_util still used for DIRAC 8.0?
• is there any documentation on using the /LocalSite/StorageElements/ProxyProtocols configuration option?

DIRACGrid/DIRAC#3572 (comment) Here is a discussion that gives the impression that the lcg_util should no longer be used in 8.0, maybe @chaen can comment? thanks

I confirm, there are no lcg_util anymore
