Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
After being a victim of a nasty SSD failure with no warnings or surviving files, I have decided this is a wake-up call to keep drive sync up and running at all times, so I have set up a backup encrypted storage with every critical folder in the system and replaced them with symbolic links pointing to them. STG, however, apparently can't comprehend this and keeps trying to create the same file multiple times with 0 bytes.
Describe the solution you'd like
STG behaving normally dropping the auto backup once a day in the folder it thinks is in the downloads folder but is in fact someplace else.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Manually backing up at the end of the day, or
a script that detects when the folder is last modified, copies it and replace it in the backup storage
