I'm not sure that I have understood your question. Exiv2 reads Exif, XMP, IPTC and ICC metadata. If you're asking about the FileSystem data such as Directory, the sample application

Which tags are missing? Exiftool and Exiv2 use different tag names, however, both tools report the same tags (Exif 2.32 spec). |

@perdrix52 David: There is format specific metadata which exiv2 does not report. For example, PNG files can store "Textual Information" and this is discussed in my book under "11.3.4 Textual information" https://exiv2.org/book/index.html#PNG Exiv2 provides support for the Exif/XMP/IPTC/ICC standards and doesn't report format specific metadata. |

exiftool can read the base level png and jpg tags that are not EXIF. For example:
Can Exiv2 be used to read these?
