NAME Tag - Are "/" required even if the individual does not have a surname? #433
-
Historically, in many cultures an inheritable (using the g7:SURN, A family name passed on or used by members of a family) surname was not needed. Even today Iceland does not have a surname tradition. For individuals who do not have a surname, what is the prescribed notation for individuals who do not have a surname vs individuals who have a surname but the name is not known? In my application "/" is not required and only used when:
Individuals without surnames do not have an empty "//" ! Example: Rigborg Danielsdatter I don't see any reference to this is the documentation, in particular that "/" are not required when a individual does not have a surname. |
