***Create Bootable USB Disks That Are Also Storage - In Linux***

Download the .iso from the site you want (for example https://trisquel.info/, https://www.pureos.net/, https://guix.gnu.org/, etc).
burn the iso into the USB disk with the commands dd, dcfldd, dc3dd, or ddrescue.
After finishing it, power-off your disk with the command "udisksctl power-off -b /dev/sd[whatever]".
Eject the disk and re-insert it.
Umount the disk with the command "umount /dev/sd[whatever]*" (note the asterisk).
Run the command "fdisk -w never /dev/sd[whatever]". Inside the program, type "F" to list the free unpartitioned space of your disk. Copy the number under "Start" column. Type "n" to create a new partition; select "p" for primary; later use the default partition number presented and copy this number; as the first sector, paste the number you had copied under the "Start" column of the the free unpartitioned space; later use the default last sector number presented; it will create a new partition of type "Linux".
Type "t" to change the partition type; paste the partition number you had copied; type 0c to change it to "W95 FAT32 (LBA)".
Type "w" to write your changes to the disk and exit the program.
Run the command "cfdisk /dev/sd[whatever]". There, you'll see a partition of the type "W95 FAT32 (LBA)" listed. Copy its path (it should be /dev/sd[whatever letter][whatever number]. Quit the program.
Now you'll use the path you copied. Run the command "mkfs.vfat -F 32 -n [a name of your choice] /dev/sd[whatever letter][whatever number]"; according to the program's documentation, the volume name can be up to 11 characters long; try to use uppercase letters without spaces or special (non-ASCII) characters for a better compatibility.
Run again the command "cfdisk /dev/sd[whatever]". Move the cursor to the partition "/dev/sd[whatever letter][whatever number]"; in the lower panel, the filesystem should be listed as "vfat". Note: sometimes, you may have to umount and power-off your disk, and later re-insert it, to the proper information be updated in the cfdisk.
Run the command "umount /dev/sd[whatever]*" (note the asterisk). Later run the command "udisksctl power-off -b /dev/sd[whatever]".
Eject the disk and re-insert it. Both the operating system image and the storage partitions should be recognized.
As a last test, you could run the QEMU virtual machine, using "/dev/sd[whatever]" as a disk drive. If all is going well, it should boot. After the boot you can close the QEMU.
Keep in mind that this newly created storage partition may not be recognized in Microsoft Windows.
