Multiplayer does not work

• LAN lobby does not work on Linux (Windows WideChar to Linux WiderChar conversion in LANAPI required)
• Mismatch between Windows 1.05 and our build.
• Playing between Windows build from our CI works

It works via LAN and direct connection via WireGuard, but it desyncs after 5-10 minutes. Also happens on regular LAN.

Was used on both machines; otherwise, the game runs over 1000 FPS.

When the 'faster' machine (Ryzen 9950X 3D) was hosting, I would notice certain 'stops', to I guess 'wait up' for the other client who didn't experience any slowdown. But desync happened no matter which machine was hosting.

There was one successful, maybe 15-minute match, 4 players, 2 medium AIs.

Yes, we tried 3 different 4-player maps, always 2 AI, 2 players. 1 was successful, 2 desynced. I have a recording of this from my side, but not much besides the lag can be seen.

The test I did myself was on the main PC and the Steam Deck, on the first map, Alpine Assault. But there, I didn't use any launch parameters to limit the FPS, and I recall the desync error popping up faster.

We might try some sort of WireGuard setup on Steam Decks with as identical a setup as possible to mitigate the chances of a desync.

Thanks! I also recently received my SteamDeck back and have one more PC at disposal than before, so I can finally look into this as well.

We tried on Steam Decks to have the closest possible machines, but it was the same issues.

I did a test on LAN, 1vs1, all good for 50 minutes.

Added AI, on map for 3, 2 players in one team, desync between 10 minutes.

Also, unrelated, perhaps for different issue. Every time I go to direct connection menu the nick is shortened to the first letter, and game is impossible to control when there are players with same nick, as in the bulldozer/builder has no options to select.

The problem with the name being truncated, I have noticed once already and should be fixable fast.
(Most likely a problem with reading out a 16-bit wchar where a 32-bit one was saved).
The other one is new and I'll look into it!
