keyboard shortcut to toggle pannels should also toggle focus on them

so i have whatsapp on the first pannel and the following keyboard shortcut:

but there is one annoying behavior: when using this shortcut, the focus continues being on the previous window, what i expect to happen is:

• while watching a yt video
• (ctrl + alt + W) to open whatsapp
• i can start typing automatically in the textbox of the open chat (previously focused object in that site)
• and vice versa, (ctrl + alt + W) to close whatsapp
• press space to play the yt video (again, the previously focused object in that site)
