New Freetz Alien 7490 -> 3490

Could someone help me in creating a Freetz alien? The 7490 and 3490 share the complete same hardware, except the 3490 has no phone functionality. Therefore a alien build maybe could be easy and the 3490 could profit from the newer FritzOS 07.57 version.

Someone has done it for the 7490 -> 5490 alien, which is harder since the hardware differs there more.

Just use another alien to see which changes are needed:

But to create such an alien a seriel console is required if it does not boot!
Maybe replace kernel is mandatory (works for 7490) with some patches.
You could compare sources avm (http://osp.avm.de).
A good help to create an alien is hippie (boxmatrix) in its irc channel. Maybe he has yet a patch for it - or HW infos why it should not be done

Hi,

i'm reading something about freetz-NG. I have also a 3490 and i'd like to flash a firmware specically to have the capabilities of the newer OS like wireguard. @FaserF have you found a stable release to flash our 3490?
How does it work.
I read the instructions so i can flash it from windows 11 ubuntu subsystem? And the i cam make the tool ad choose wht i want, correctly?

Unfortunatly no. Never managed to get a workingg stable alien release. But most likely since I am too unexperienced in building such an alien.

If 'im understand what you name as an "alien release" is a copy of Freetz-NG firmware with some changes.
Now i'm seeing #1057 there is this pull request. So we can wait and then try to test this release on on 3490 device? I have only my actual working router so i have to find another one. But it could be a bargain!
