Ok, how about we do this:

  • Give Discourse a test drive of for a week or two.

  • Send an email to everyone before changing the name so that they know what they are looking at.

  • (optional) for people who see the calendar, post an event with the title "We are moving from meetup.com"

  • Download the member list

  • Change the name

  • Shut it down

Documenting this experience as "migration strategy from meetup.com" will be cool.

Yes, let's use this thread for documenting that.

One of the questions being -- where do we post / have people register for events? The teamup calendar actually does have registration that we could experiment with, and then the event could just be posted as a jekyll post.

@bmann good suggestion. It's quite decent. Here is the sign up page I made for Crypto Salon: https://teamup.com/event/show/id/4bFAxhe92UHekXNbosvq5GYZ8SCRpF

The only missing thing is email notifications about upcoming events. I don't know if the reminder feature sends to everyone or only me; we'll see.

Ok, I got a reminder from Team Up for Crypto Salon as planned. @bmann did you get it too?
