cosmic desktop environment media control commands not working

I am using the AUR group 'cosmic' to run the cosmic desktop environment on arch linux. Current version is 6. Media control works fine with gnome desktop environment. I believe I have the requisite dependencies installed but the media control commands issued by my bluetooth earbuds are targeting local media rather than the stream piped through to my system from my scrcpy-piped phone-audio stream. Don't know if this is a problem for scrcpy, my re-package for Arch from the AUR, or upstream on one of the Pop-OS cosmic desktop repos.
