Can 'allowDB' Replace 'safer_cloudsql' for Postgres in Solution Acceleration Toolkit?

I'm exploring a customization in which I would prefer to use the allowDB wrapper for deploying a Postgres instance on Cloud SQL, instead of the default safer_cloudsql module used in the Solution Acceleration Toolkit.

Question

using allowDB for Postgres within SAT considered a supported or recommended approach?
