Today's discussion hit 5 big topics…

TaskChampion 0.8 release and upcoming 0.9 @ 0:37
Dustin discussed the recent TaskChampion 0.8 release, which included support for using enterprise-provided SSL/TLS certificates. The upcoming 0.9 release will expose operations to support the task info command, with some compromises around consistency across distributed replicas.

Potential new sync backends @ 3:18
Dustin mentioned that the team is considering adding new sync backends beyond the current options of the TaskChampion sync server and Google Cloud, such as Git, AWS S3, and Azure Blob Storage. This could be a good first bug for contributors to work on.

Improving the TaskWarrior command line interface @ 5:20
Thomas discussed plans to simplify the TaskWarrior command line interface, including addressing issues with how it handles certain inputs like tags that could be interpreted as dates.

Reducing support channels and increasing community engagement @ 8:21
The group discussed reducing the number of support channels by closing down the Gothenburg Bit Factory email account and the IRC channel, which have seen little activity. They also talked about the need to increase community engagement, such as by giving more community members admin rights on the Discord server.

Formalizing membership and governance for the Gothenburg Bit Factory organization @ 23:39
Dustin suggested the team should consider formalizing a process for Gothenburg Bit Factory membership, including how people can join, leave, and have their roles and rights managed, to ensure the longevity of the organization beyond just the current core contributors.
