  • Name: Warp from Weft? Or should they be Night from Day, and "Lunars" be ... Skin from Soul/Bone, Heart from Whole, ... ?
  • Anima effects
  • Sobriquets
  • Performance Charm to fake Nocturnal Fluctuations?

I hope i am writing this in a place that will reach you, but anyway: hello!

I am a fan of this yours fan splat for the second edition of exalted.

with the coming of the third edition, and the spoilers about it, i got many ideas about many new charms and conversions of old ones for this wonderful and confusing exalted type.

Since that you seem to have stopped working on it, i was searching a way to contact you to ask for the permission of continuing your work.
I hope you will answer me positively, otherwise i will cry so much that the oceans will rise and the sharks will then devour us all. And given that sharks attack us only because they mistake us for seals and otherwise we aren't a good food for them, they will all suffer from bad diet.

Please think about the sharks, please.

Hey Gigyas,

delightful to hear from you fnord! Sadly, what with getting married,
then being involved in selling two properties and buying one, I kind of
lost momentum with the Discordians and haven't touched it for ages.

Sharks or no sharks (and there's a koan for you!), you are most welcome
to use or abuse the text in any way, like it says at the front. I've
tried to make it not too painful to understand how to build the PDF etc.
from the sources and, depending on your coding skill level, my toy bits
of Python shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I'd be happy to give you
some hints if you get stuck, particularly in the couple of weeks around
Christmas & New Year, when I'll have more time.

One thing that's missing is a note of which versions of each package I
used to build it. Especially in the case of the Docbook XSL package, a
different version of some package may cause you all sorts of problems.

A quick "port search docbook" on my Mac suggests I have

docbook-xml-5.0 @5.0 (textproc)
Version 5.0 of the DocBook XML DTDs

docbook-xsl @1.78.1 (textproc)
The docbook xsl stylesheets

and I the main other tools were

python27 @2.7.3 (lang)
An interpreted, object-oriented programming language

scons @2.3.0 (devel, python)
Software construction tool

fop @1.0 (textproc, java)
Apache FOP Java XSL-FO Print Formatter

In theory it should be relatively easy to build this stuff under *nix,
and possible even under Windows, though I haven't tried.

I'm also 95% of the way to factoring out the tool chain from the
specific book, giving you "protocol23", a tool for producing
Exalted-style PDFs. That could then be improved to put graphics in the
page backgrounds, add subtle textures to the charm tree graphics, etc.
Some day ...

Anyway, fork away on github and/or do whatever else you like with it
(but beware attacks from White Wolf lawyers!), and let me know if I can
help :-D

Warm-and-cosiest regards,
Hugh "Shuuji" Greene.
