Okay, first of all, we'll need screenshots of the issue (console and, if possible, a log or steps to recreate the error).

If it is the error I think it is, it can be fixed by using the flag -trace like this:

$ sudo ./cmd -trace=error

I would focus on fixing the real issue, as an exponential backoff is already in the backend for TCP connections. Maybe you are talking about a UDP connection? The issue is not descriptive enough. Perhaps it is a configuration error? Was the back configured to look for that address? Please provide further details.

Btw, this is the first time an official issue has been placed on Software, and a couple of members of the Firmware subsystem reported to be okay with using the flag; if that is no longer the case, this is the first time I have been informed.

You are right some key information is missing, this is the screenshot you asked for

As you can see it is clearly not an UDP issue.
To reproduce it:
select manual under the network setting in the config.toml

manual = true

Launch the backend and select an ip different from the one specified in the ADJ for backend.

⚠ NOTE: This is done to mimic the behaviour that takes place when you remove the Ethernet cable/turn off the board and leave the backend running in the background, believe it or not this happens quite often.
As for the fixes proposed:

$ sudo ./cmd -trace=error, as I dont have such a file. I also suspect that changing the severity level to FATAL will make other importante ERROR messages not show up.

The CMD file is a placeholder for any name the Control Station executable file has, anyways I agree that the trace flag is not enough and we'll find a better solution, I do recommend the use of the flag in the meantime.
