First of All, Thanks!

❤️ Thank you very much for participating in ZimaOS Open Test!

About "Connect"

"Connect" is a breakthrough feature that we wanted to create. We wanted it to be able to allow users to have a direct peer-to-peer connection with their ZimaOS, anytime, anywhere, with end-to-end encryption, without using a central cloud service as much as possible.

How it works

The "Connect" is established when you connect using the Zima client by scanning or entering your network ID and logging in.

Zima client will automatically handle changes in the network environment and switch the connection method automatically. This ensures that the client functions as if it were local. Includes "Open Dashboard", "PeerDrop", "Backup" and "Open In Finder/Explorer" etc.

Testing Purpose

  1. Ensure worldwide availability of functions
  2. Ensure stability over time

We Need Your Feedback

As mentioned above, there are two parts to the feedback we're looking for in this test.

  1. After your initial experience with this feature, does it work? What do you think of this feature? Any suggestions?
    Please fill out this FORM
If you're having trouble establishing a connection.
Feel free to get in touch with me here, or Discord @JohnGuan, or email john@icewhale.org

  2. If it works. How stable is this feature in different scenarios after you've used it for a long time, one to two weeks?
Please fill out this FORM after 10 days. Maybe set a reminder for it.

With the form data above, we can better identify problems and improve this feature.

❤️ Appreciate your participation again!

Downloads

Windows x64 | macOS arm64 | macOS x64

The download links above are the latest version.
When a new version is released, you can get the latest version by downloading it again.

Other Notes

  • Currently, the desktop client only supports Windows and macOS. Linux is not supported.
  • The client automatically installs ZeroTier upon startup, which is normal for this testing.
  • Don't share your network ID public if you don't have to. although the security risk is very low.
  • If you've used ZeroTier, keep in mind that this is not the same as a normal ZeroTier network setup.
The "Connect" network controller is deployed on ZimaOS and is not managed by ZeroTier Inc (not ZeroTier Central) or others.

@JohnGuan Need Tailscale support at zima client. My tailnet works very well,I prefer add a entrance that allow users input their zimaos tailscale ip or hostname. Currently I can't detect my zimaos device at client but I can browse the web UI. The auto backup function is what I need.
