How to keep state/value when navigating to another route?

I'm having a select component and each option is a country. When i select each one of them pushes to its corresponding route.
For example if i select the Austria-Vienna option it sends me to that page but i want it to keep the selected value.
I'm trying to get it from the params but its not working. The video screenshot and codesandbox posted below explains it better.
