cpu usage

The argoneond.py is using 5% cpu constantly accoring to top(1). Wonder if anything could be done about that. It should only need to poll a few items every few seconds, or is there something else.

I need to know the OS version, and what your configuration file looks like (/etc/argoneon.conf).

I never see more than 0.5% cpu utilization from the service.

Corrected, it is argonone.py that eats cpu, not the other one.

I'm pretty sure that my 74.0 = 0 and 59.0 = 0 lines were required to actually make it turn off the fan when temperature is lower than those values.

No, the fan speed is assumed to start at zero. As you add temperature ranges the fan speed ramps up. So for a cpu temp of

75= 25
80 = 50

The fan should not come on until the CPU is 75 degrees C, and only run at 25%. At 80 degrees C the fan will run at 50%.

if your HDD gets to 60, then fan speed will be 25%, and at 65 the fan speed will increase to 50%.

Note the fan will turn on when any of the conditions are met. You may want to a 100% fan speed if over a specific temp because you really do not want to cook your drives or the CPU.

Ok. I think you are correct in that the tempX = 0 entries are not needed. But, removing them also do not affect the cpu consumption of argononed.py at all.
