Description:
The game should tell a story spread out across multiple world's and levels.
Opening cut-scene:
A lazy guy riddled with vices sends his dog out to fetch the newspaper because he can't be bothered to get it himself. But the dog discovers the newspaper isn't just sitting right outside. The newspaper has been scattered across different worlds. So each day the dog goes out and finds the newspaper for his owner. The player should not actively think about the owner's vices, but it will be in the back of their mind as they play.
World 1 - Fields and Plains:
The dog enters open fields where angry birds and moles guard newspaper. While in-game the player sees a simple animation of themselves, the dog, casually eating eggs. At the end of the level a cutscene revealing this an ancient generational conflict, tracing back through the dog's ancestors to a caveman dog who ate bird eggs. The birds dramatically recount generations of inherited trauma. On another level, a cutscene explains that the moles are angry due to being exhausted from being repeatedly woken up by the dog's daily newspaper quests
World 2 - Mole Caves:
Following the trail underground, the dog discovers an extensive mole tunnel system. The Mole King has been hoarding newspaper sections, using them for bedding and nesting in his underground kingdom. During a cutscene before the boss fight, the Queen Mole flees deeper into the tunnels, setting up her escape to another world. In the background, Baby Mole watches in horror as the dog confronts his father. At the climax, the dog faces the Mole Boss - a large mole wearing tiny reading glasses who's been obsessively collecting the comics section. After the fight a cutscene plays: unknown to the player until after the boss fight, this traumatic encounter plants the seeds for Baby Mole's transformation into a future super villain, as he vows revenge. Mole King is also humanized to be seen as a father
Sky World 3:
The player climbs towering trees that stretch impossibly high into the clouds. The player navigates treacherous branches and aerial platforms. The higher the dog climbs, the more organized the bird resistance becomes, until he finally reaches the Bird Boss. The Bird Boss has been hoarding the newspaper's weather section, convinced that controlling the weather reports gives him power over the actual weather.
