Now they have added FAQ (EN, DE). It is stated, that no update of the radios will be needed. Thus, it should be safe to do software updates on the Radios. It seems that Airable will model the API previously provided by Nuvola. Hence, the same API provided by Radio-API. |

Frontier Smart plans to discontinue its Nuvola service (https://www.airablenow.com/fs-nuvola-shutdown/).
Radio-API is completely independent of the Nuvola service. Therefore, radios running Radio-API should not be affected by the shutdown.
However, some radio manufacturers will switch to Airable. We do not know how this transition will be made. It is likely that the manufacturers will release a new software version for their radios that will replace the Nuvola API with Airable. Such updates would stop Radio-API from working because Airable is not supported by Radio-API.
Until we know more about the transition process, we should not install software updates on our radios—otherwise Radio-API may stop working.
In Radio-DNS updates can be disabled via
ENABLE_UPDATE=false
, which will block the dns queries toupdate.wifiradiofrontier.com
