After taking screenshot, the app is not opened to show the taken screenshot

After taking screenshot, the app is not opened to show the taken screenshot. I pressed cmd + shift + 2, then selected area in screen and it got captured and copied to clipboard. But the captured screenshot is not opened in the Bettershot app. I want to edit the captured image.

Here is me using it. at the end the region select didn't work for some reason, but it worked the next time i opened the app.
I have the same experience when I use the keyboard shortcuts. I haven't been able to access the editor
