Hi,

Looks like this project is not showing any activity. so for those who may be needing a ray of hope, here is another project (by me) with active development and a deadline of 01 Nov 2023.

https://github.com/iqltechnologies/brighty

If you think this deserves a star or being watcher, it will encourage me.

(sorry for promoting another project here...)

Thanks

BoxBilling was my only hope. But neither domain registration automation nor hosting automation part worked when I tried. The payment gateway also failed. Only thing that worked was email reminders for invoice. Not sure if anyone ever need reminder when payment gateway doesn't work.

Their name is not a problem, their problem is the code debt and core team.

This topic seems to have attracted a little attention, from the discussion it is clear the need and the search for a viable alternative to WHMCS.

This repository perhaps has a good intention and is well-structured to show it (good README =) ), which is the frustration of having no other viable alternative to the one we won't mention the acronym anymore.

But that's all, the repository shows nothing but good intentions (and has been for a while), and I think we're looking for more. I do not doubt that everyone here is willing and able to collaborate if a more technically viable project comes along.

So I'm taking the initiative to start a repository (even if only in intentions again) where I will technically structure a framework as a starting point for the open and collaborative development of a viable alternative. I already have almost a decade of experience with WHM* and also with development, and for some time I have been analyzing and studying concepts that I believe will allow us to create an excellent framework for us to develop on top.

I will leave an open invitation to everyone who is interested and also who can support (a star on GitHub already encourages!), I personally am already dedicating resources and will continue to dedicate my time to making this idea come to life quickly.

The open project links are:

honestly, it doesnt look proffesionall as well this project. @tariq-abdullah based on wordpress and you also commited mysql data dir to git? wtf. I see lot of efforts to develop whmcs alternative, but no one looks better, development stop in early stages, no architecture, no best practices...

Hi there, I was one of the developers who had "revived" BoxBilling and I was a huge advocate for us forking off as FOSSBIlling.

I want to make something clear, FOSSBilling is NOT BoxBilling. It's not a rename, it's an entirely new project focused on transparency, proper product management, and most importantly creating a good software.

FOSSBilling still has plenty tech debt, but we have been putting a ton of work into the project to get it to a better state.
Short term, we will be making releases built off the old BoxBilling codebase, but with tons of fixes and improvements.
Long term, an entire rewrite of the software using Laravel as a framework.

In the roughly 6 months since we forked BoxBilling, we have contributed a little over 400 commits to our repository, done a lot of cleanup under the hood, and have put in the groundworks for long term success.
We'd greatly appreciate it if you checked out the changelog, starred our repository, and joined our Discord.

Feel free to drop in and ask any questions, we welcome it!

How about me making a platform? You guys failed, do you know why? Well you all choose PHP and copy the WHMCS, seriously what's wrong with you? One yea did a job here great job i must say, but using php sadly. The other started a project with wordpress base? C'mon buddy that ain't gonna be a think ever imagine you should sync yourself with wordpress updates. So here i come, how about me making a project but this time no more PHP this time guys? Let's code a real professional WHMCS alternative that will be SUPERIOR to WHMCS, you will all ask how why and many thinks well let me tell you just about what i'm thinking:

  1. VueJS project
  2. Yes it will have a backend server two actually
  3. Redis will be also there
  4. rabbitmq will be also there while somebody wants to scale that up to the roof
  5. Identity Server in C# and realtime websocket that might somebody need in case of realtime changes

and then we will go through features which it's classic, so i first wanna see if people really interested cuz i ain't gonna just start a project and then see nobody use it cuz naturally i wanna have people use it but of course you'll see it and it needs much time to complete that's for sure.

Anyways, lemme know if you're interested guys!

I have been looking for a descent WHMCS alternative for years. Nothing actually seems to suit my business, so I am happy to be involved in any project that will blow WHMCS out of the water. I can't code though, but experienced in managing software projects, testing, user workshops, requirements and everything else - just not writing code sorry.

Hi @alexandrosntonas , you are right. I like this project roadmap and features list, but I don't like codebase, bad versioning and so on. Successfull project needs high quality programmers, so need sponsors to hire, develop and maintain.

Sorry guys..after writing a lot of code and coding so much I started planning to sell it on codecanyon and similar marketplaces. I had a change of mind . That's why I didnt push any updates to the repository.

But thanks to one of my friends who convinced me otherwise, now I am sure the best way is Open Source way. So I'll be cleaning up the things and you will se more activity on the github repo.

and Yes it is going to remain on wordpress. As suggested by others I am going to remove database, core wordpress files and everything from repo except the theme and plugin.

Encourage me please. reading above comments I feel like i aint competent enough but the whole point of open source is collaboration. why dont you guys get involved!!

I am thoroughly confused as to why you would use wordpress as the base for a system like this. That's not what wordpress is for. You're introducing a lot of unnecessary complexity and vulnerability into your system by shoehorning wordpress into a billing and crm platform.

I am choosing WordPress due to following advantages:

  1. flexibility of using thousands of plugins to extend features
  2. compatibility with hundreds of payment gateways
  3. very secure, tested and well maintained code having a history of performance on high traffic website
  4. widely compatible and has native built-in JSON API
  5. very low server requirements
  6. my personal experience in developing plugins over my 10 year career

Ah, the negativity in this group, what a breath of... well, not fresh air, but it's something, isn't it? Who needs positivity and encouragement when you can bask in the warm, comforting glow of constant criticism and cynicism? Truly, it's like a spa day for the soul—if that spa were located in the depths of a volcanic crater. Ah, such joy!

People are here because they're excited. Their comments tend to come from frustration. You're hear because you're more passionate than everyone else and motivated to make change. The roads to change are damn hard, they make you question everything and you have to constantly pick yourself up.

You clearly have something to prove to yourself and/or everyone else. Remember back to your original post man:

"If you think that I'm exaggerating and building castles in the air, understand this. Over the years I managed to deliver more useful features and fixes for WHMCS bugs in my modules working alone than the entire staff of WHMCS combined.

"This is just the tip of the iceberg. I even maintain an extensive documentation in two languages not counting this same blog you are reading. All this working alone on this unfriendly platform named WHMCS that no longer deserves my time.

I am directing my passion, knowledge, skills and connections on this newborn platform. The project is named Leap. Don't ask for ETA. It will take pretty long time to complete. Years for sure."

Sitting patiently, make this happen to the best of your ability. It's going to be a constant work in progress.

@vxrdanny, the guy behind Leap (Kian) has no affiliation with the WordPress plugin being discussed in this issue.
Kian is well known for developing really extensive modules for WHMCS.
