Formatter Called with Formatted Value #214

Hello @robert-schmidtke! This is definitely a bug or problem in the design of the tagging system. I don't know how to fix it quickly. Probably I need to remove For now I can suggest to fix it with some kind of crutch @default_formatter.register("get_item", preformat=False)

Yeah that's almost exactly how I worked around that for now, so not a blocker at this time. I believe there was a similar issue with tags when configuring a |
thanks, I think that I understand a problem It will be grateful if you will share an example when you will have a time |
Hi, came up with a small example below for the tags too. import asyncio

# cache.setup("mem://")
@cache(

key="testing:key",
tags=["tag"], # using "testing:tag" here would also fail
)
async def cached(param: str):
print(param)
async def main():
await cached("TESTME")
await cached("TESTME")
if __name__ == "__main__":
asyncio.run(main())
# prints TESTME

Fixed with 7.1.0 version. I removed check_tags_registered - it should fix the first issue. Regarding prefix - I added note to the Readme (documentation) that tags require to setup a default cache or a tag backend |

It seems that some of the internal logic for working with tags is broken and not very flexible. I can give details, but in short, I'm going to rework it a little in the part that manages the lifetime of the key "in the tag". Give me a time. I will let you know when I fix it |
Hi, first of all thanks for providing
cashews
!I recently started using it and noticed that, when using custom formatters in tags, they get called with the already formatted value for matching, see the below example for reproducing this behavior.
Is this expected and should I work around this (e.g. check if the formatter is called with a string already), or is this an actual issue?
