DSNP should support a flag as part of the user profile to indicate a specific field should not be indexed for the public, therefore not searchable.

This would be similar to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robots_exclusion_standard

DSNP Community Call 2023-06-22

  • Does it apply to content and profile or just profile?
  • How can we keep it simple so that users are able to use it?
    • Do not index my images, but not this, but yes that.
    • Simple privacy controls are more likely to be used as intended by users.
  • Would users think this stops bad actors?
    • Would naming help?
  • Real life example: Do Not Call Registry
    • Almost used as a list for spammers
  • Is it just extra work without any benefit.
