Is there a way to clear atlas data at runtime

Is there a way to clear the atlas from code?
When switching the language, I would like to remove glyphs from the atlas so that glyphs from the previously used language do not take up precious space on it. 
For example, when switching from English to Chinese or vice versa, many characters will not be used and will only occupy memory.
