Content not showing without VPN

I live in Syria and I can access Hacker News from website but when I open the app without VPN it doesn't show content

Would it be helpful if there was a way to set up a proxy in the app?

My only problem with proxy is that I can't find working free proxies , otherwise it would be helpful

This is due to the official HN API being hosted on Firebase which is blocked in Syria, I'm making a change so that the stories are scrapped off directly from the web instead fetching from the API.

Hi @biscuitwithtea, you should now be able to change data source from API to web in v2.9.0, pls let me know if you still can’t see anything on home page without VPN.
