pmid:19318624 needs this - currently this info can only be entered as a comment - there is an existing term - MI:1225 - but it does not appear to be on the menu.

I can't think of a way this will work as we need - its more of a qualifier for a PTM than a PTM, we currently could not both add this, and the description of the PTM in the same feature. Discuss with Marine, possibly in light of XML3.0.

I agree with Sandra. Descriptive terms for the regulatory behavior of particular chemical modifications should be conceptually separated from those chemically identifying names. Terms such as "blocking", "disrupting", "enhancing", etc., probably deserve their own property records, but should be placed in comments until an appropriate vocabulary can be devised for them. --- There is an on-going problem with UniProt feature annotation from annotators attempting to use non-chemical descriptors that should instead be placed in comments.
