In the last few months I’ve become aware of the fact that the Home-brew libraries I ship with these builds tend to be compiled to work for only more recent versions of macOS. Every so often Apple changes how something about dylibs work and older versions of macOS can’t load newer versions.

I’m looking into ways to address this but for now I don’t have a great solution.

One thing might be worth trying - if the build of Quake III Arena works, you might be able to swap out the libSDL2-2.0.0.dylib file in the Quake II build with it. To view the contents of an app bundle right-click on it and select Show Package Contents. The Quake III Arena dylib should be in the Contents/MacOS folder and the file in the Quake II bundle should be in the Contents/MacOS/libs-x86_64 directory. Copy one over the other and it might work.

I’m sorry, this is a lame answer and it’s like asking someone to perform surgery just to get a game working but it’s worth a shot.
