Meany Lodge Porch Assembly

  • Stairs
    • Set the pier blocks
      • Level the soil around the stairs area
      • Dig holes
      • fill base of holes with pea gravel
    • Construct the landing
      • stairs are 7-1/2 x 10-1/4" so 37.5" below deck height
  • Deck Rails
    • Order Flashing / flashing / drip edge from B&D
    • install fascia
    • mount deck rail posts
      • cut custom blocks for 4x4 posts
      • (7) cut railing posts to 54"
      • add 2x10" blocking for post bolts
      • affix 3/8" threaded rod through the blocking
  • Odds and Ends
    • Cut 12' decking down to size
    • mortar in top course of pillars
      • fill with concrete
      • set the post anchors
    • make forms for steps at end of tunnel
      • pour tunnel steps
    • pour cores below glass blocks
    • dig french drain along footing
      • line with landscaping fabric
      • fill with peat gravel
      • tie into existing dry well

    • Lay out lines for block wall perimeter
    • lay out doors & wall interior
    • Install & brace door jambs
    • cut or bend straps into door anchors
    • Lay first course of blocks
      • plumb, level, and square
      • mark inside of blocks where rebar will go
    • Lay next 5 courses of blocks
    • Wait 5-6 hours
