Changelog

All notable changes will be documented in this file.

The format is based on Keep a Changelog, and this project adheres to Semantic Versioning.

[0.5.0] - Unreleased

Added

  • Zoom in the chart editor.
  • Lots of new functions and variables in the Lua API. See the wiki!
  • singDuration property to character jsons to control their sing duration.
  • Flixel Splash Screen option to toggle the HaxeFlixel splash screen that shows up when the game starts.
  • Icons now bump to the song playing when you play it with the space bar in freeplay.
  • When using the default time bar style the time bar color changes depending on what character is currently in focus.

  • You can put any .lua or .hx file into a song folder to have it run (like psych engine)
  • Softcoded Discord RPC - Check assets/data/discord.json

Fixed

  • Bug with charting state (specifically specialAudioName not working in it).
  • Bug where you can go to negative song position in the charter.
  • Bug where the ui skin menu opens when opening the Note Options section in the options menu.
  • Bug where the game would crash in the pause menu when Prototype Title Screen is on.
  • Bug where the game would crash when opening the ui skin menu with an invalid ui skin in your save data.
  • Bug with anything that would normally open the 'application error' window that crashed on Linux.
  • Bug where pause menu music wouldn't disappear after closing the menu.
  • Bug where the game crashes when trying to load a song or week set that does not exist in story mode.
  • Animations now play when character will idle is true like how they would in psych (aka animation fully plays then once it stops the character idles).
  • That one bug where characters that dance left and right would be slower than needed at high bpms.
  • Difficulty specific audio not playing in freeplay (Linux).
  • crochet now links to Conductor.crochet instead of Conductor.stepCrochet in lua (WARNING: This fix may accidentally break some obsecure scripts, to fix them use the new stepCrochet variable instead).
  • Some alphabet font characters having the wrong name internally, causing them to not appear correctly in-game.
  • Not being able to set note or strum angles in lua.
  • Pause Menu now uses it's own camera so that it isn't affected by the game's ui zoom.
  • Event Luas now have the create() function called on them just like the rest of the game's lua.
  • Crashes with sounds not having a _transform value while trying to use it.
  • Memory Counter reports correct values.

Changed

  • The option Import Old Scores is now in Misc.
  • Optimized Note Splash spawning.
  • Optimized Score text and Info text in PlayState.
  • Pause menu music is now cached at the start of each song to prevent lag when opening the menu.
  • Freeplay no longer has < > when the selected song has one difficulty.
  • Info text now goes onto the time bar in the leather engine time bar style.
  • Stage sprites that use the beatHit animation no longer are forced to play it every beat (if it's already playing it won't play until it's not).
  • Newgrounds Logo in Title Screen has been replaced by the Polymod Logo.
  • Tutorial's camera zoom now acts like it does in base game* (not exactly the same, but close enough, and a less janky way as well).
  • Some miscellaneous ui changes in-game.

Fixed

  • Freeplay crashing when loading a bunch of songs (with space bar) and then changing speed of song, and loading one.
  • Fixed mania mode and death notes doing funny miss stuff?
  • Charter could be 0 bpm (basically breaking everything, oops!).
  • Health Icon for characters without a .json (built in characters only), now have their icons appear in the Charter (unless it's a case like mom-car where it uses mom's icons, but that will be all fixed when built in characters all use .json files).

  • The School Background (Week 6) with the crying bg people (in Roses) is now a seperate stage, rather than being song specific.

  • Crash when ghost tapping is off (and you miss) and a modchart is active.
  • Custom Difficulty Inst / Vocals not loading correctly when loading charter (because difficulty wasn't set before the audio was loaded).
  • mania value in charts still existing after chaning things (basically it overrides keyCount and would glitch stuff).
  • Rate / Song Speed being too fast (ie, if you were at 2x the health icon and camera zoom was higher than 2x).
  • Discord RPC Song Time being glitchy.
  • Freeplay Music now speeds up / slows down when changing speed.
  • Vocals from other song no longer seep into other Inst in Freeplay.

  • Health Bar randomly having white pixels on it (because it was incorrect sized compared to health bar bg).
  • SHIT Rating not breaking your combo.
  • Freeplay Background Color change depending on the framerate.
  • Game Over Camera Movement being frame dependent.

  • Debug Songs no longer have difficulties other than NORMAL (because originally they were just one difficulty).
  • SHIT Rating now gives 0.1 damage (out of 2 max) instead of 0.07 damage (miss damage amount).

  • The song charter has been revamped and now is more organized and easier to understand (generally).

Fixed

  • Song names like Philly and Dadbattle have been replaced to their actual song names (Philly Nice and Dad Battle).
  • The layering of GF on the limo stage has now been fixed! (:pog:)
  • In the Thorns dialogue, Senpai's dialogue portrait is now invisible, instead of behind or infront of Spirit.

Re-Added

  • When pressing 9 in-game it now will revert your health icon to bf-old (because idk why I removed it).

Known Issues

  • When hitting notes REALLY close together on the new input system, the game may sometimes allow you to hit multiple notes at once.
  • Pressing "Beat Hit" in the stage editor on "Spooky" stage, may cause the game to crash.

  • An Options Menu.

  • Opponent side arrows glowing when hitting notes (as an option).

  • When you select a song in freeplay it plays that song's instrumental again and with no lag! (This was disabled in a prior update due to some issues with the new libraries).

Fixed

  • GF's animations have been fixed (she would go up like 20 pixels when the player broke a combo before).
  • Freeplay songs are now unlocked just like weeks.

Known Issues

  • I do know that GF's layering on the limo stage is broken, but I have not found a solution to fixing this yet without just seperating the limo from it's stage.
