Getting Help With Your Comp Courses

The department has two full-time Instructional Assistants (IAs) on staff to help you out with your COMP courses, so don't hestiate to ask them for help if you're stuck on an assignment!

How To Ask For Help

There will be a mix of live and online help available for the winter semester.

If you're looking for live help, just swing on by our offices when our calendars say we're available.

If you're looking for online help, then things get a bit more complicated - but just a bit. Read on.

TL;DR Version

  1. First, look up the IA's availability for the day: bit.ly/comp-help-availability.
  2. When both you and the IA you want to talk to are available, fill out this form: bit.ly/comp-help-form.
  3. Then go to bit.ly/comp-help-queue to "wait in line". Keep in mind the IAs will be fielding live questions as well as monitoring the online queue for questions, so if they're not picking up right away, they are very likely helping someone in-person and will get to you as soon as they can.)
  4. When your entry gets a Meet link, go to that link - it's talkin' time!

Longer Version

If you want to read the "full" instructions for some reason, you can find them here.

JP made a rambling video version (11:59) if you're more into that sorta thing.

Blah Blahs

  • So we're supposed to get a notification when someone fills out the form...but sometimes we don't get it, so if you're in the Sheet waiting for someone to get to you and we're not responding, chances are that has happened. (Or maybe we've stepped away from the computer for a moment?) In any case, just hang tight.
  • Please don't fill out the form without looking to see if someone's available first - we will typically delete entries that come in "after hours".
