Hi There,
Firstly, I am new here and to the VW group infotainment systems so apologies if some questions seem stupid (I come from BMW ownership)
I have recently purchased a 2019 Porsche Macan and I am interested in loading up MIB onto it to discover what I can do with it 😊
I guess my first question is if MIB release 3.6 is really compatible / usable with the PCM 5 unit that comes in my vehicle (I believe that the PCM unit is manufactured by Alpine, from looking at MIB info)?
I have downloaded 2023 Europe map updates from the MIB info page and these loaded up great via SD card, but I was surprised that I did not need to enter any sort of activation code (This is how I did it on my BMW of course) 😊
This brings me onto the use of the FEC codes. If I lookup FEC code 066000F0 on the FEC decoder, it shows me that the code is for a Porsche, MIB2 Premium unit, EU region, but it has nothing in the Expiration column.
I assume that this just means that the car is enabled with Navigation function and so is there another FEC code that I need to add to allow future map updates?
Does this mean that the maps are updateable for the lifetime of the car, as I assumed that I would need to pay for yearly updates, with Porsche being Porsche?
Having said that I am currently subscribed to the Porsche Navigation package that gives 1 year of map updates and RTTI and a couple of other things, so maybe when that expires in March of 2024 the FEC will have an expiration date?
I see that on Audis you can enter an FEC code (via MIB) of 023000ee and that allows lifetime map updates, so maybe there is a similar code that I can use for the MIB2 unit in the Porsche?
Thanks for any help with these queries 😊
Andrew
