Failure to run example

Hi,

I am trying to run the example \06_IEA-15-240-RWT\weis_driver_monopile.py, which is to run an analysis (not optimization) of the monopile version of the IEA 15MW. But I got the following error:

Because it seems not an error related to the input file, I don't know how to solve this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I suppose it's due to a mismatched parameter name between the input file and the python file?

it sounds like you are on the master branch of WEIS. please confirm. if so, make sure you have WISDEM v3.19.0 installed in your environment

@ptrbortolotti Thanks, I downloaded WISDEM v3.19.0 in my WEIS environment and now it works.

But I encountered the other error when trying the example 2 to run OpenFAST load analysis:


I am not sure if it's anything I missed from the installation instructions, just like I didn't see that I need to install WISDEM v3.19.0 on WEIS README.

Do the other examples work? For instance you were running example 6 in the first message?

Hi,

In the first message I ran example 06: ' python examples\06_IEA-15-240-RWT\weis_driver_umaine_semi.py ', after the installation of WISDEM v3.19.0 the error was solved.

In the second one I ran example 02:' python examples\02_run_openfast_cases\weis_driver_loads.py ', but I encountered the errors as shown in the message.

Okay, good to know that some examples are running. The error suggests a mismatch in encoding. The gbk encoding is typically used for Chinese characters. Is that the default language on your Windows operating system?

Unfortunately, this is going to be very difficult for us to debug as we won't be able to recreate the issue locally. As you get more comfortable with WISDEM and WEIS, you may be able to suggest code improvements to fix this bug. Otherwise, we are probably a bit stuck.

Thanks for the response, I just tried this example with a remote super computer which uses English, and it worked. As my plan is just to run multiple simulations for a set of DLCs without any optimization based on WISDEM, this example seems most ideal for me.

I am more than willing to submit my suggestions if I found improvments for this issue in the future! As the responses I got from the forum were always useful and in time :)
