Low levels for recordings

Hello - I have been running Birdnet-PI for almost a year now, with great success. However, the recordings are very very faint - and to hear anything, I need to import then into audacity and turn the volume up to 11. I have raised the level in alsamixer to the top, and the difference is slight.

It is extremely good at identification (I played an old Peterson's song ID record, and it scored very well at higher, and softer volumes)... but listening doesn't work on the PI itself, and playing it back requires linux gymnastics.

any ideas?

Hi, I just proposed in parallel to your issue a redesigned audio player with gain control allowing to player it "louder" without changing the device volume :) #279
