The workflow would be:

  1. Call new OPC UA method DiscoverAsset(providing a string in the format Protocol://IPAddress:Port) on the OPC UA server interface from the connectivity software. The connectivity software will discover the asset and auto-generate a WoT Thing Description file.
  2. Read auto-generated WoT Thing Description file from OPC UA File interface on the connectivity software.
  3. Add the OPC UA Companion Spec mapping information to the WoT Thing Description using an external tool like UA Cloud Viewer.
  4. Write the modified WoT Thing Description back to the connectivity software (e.g. UA Edge Translator).

This has been added to the spec v1.1.
