[Feature make mountpoint option] Make the mount point option changeable

Many of us advanced users would like the moint point to be entirely customizable, could this be an option? This would be better than changing the config file by hand and fstab by hand

This wouldn't be hard to add but it would be easy for noobs to cause issues with their system by mounting in a bad place. Is there a reason you can't use symlinks? I do myself. I even use the symlinks plugin to create them.

I tried symlink, they do not work for my use case of connecting the mountpoint connecting folder through sshfs. (I think the symlink would have to be hard links). Another solution would be on my client to connect the drives separately but then that creates an unneccessary crowding of remote connected drives.

Quick question, is this system made to be a system for noobs with no prior linux knowledge or is it made to be usable by anyone? because if the latter, I feel like a warning could be added when the change is done.

I'm not a noob and I use OMV. OMV is designed to be easy enough for noobs but flexible enough for advanced users. Warnings don't mean anything because people don't read them. I usually try not to add features that can really break a system. I think if the feature was added, the mountpoint should be very limited where it can go. Like it would have to stay in /srv or /mnt (just examples, haven't thought about it much).

Advanced users can edit the database. And I didn't say no to the option. I just said it needs to be safe.

If you supported omv users for almost 15 years, you would not think that way.

Yep, I get it. It is definitely a matter of perspective.

I don't mind editing the database, didn't take me very long to figure out. I have been a ubuntu user since 2006 and arch since 2010, back when the gui for most settings where non-existent.

By the way, thanks for the work you do in developing this product and supporting this community. I know people with feature request sometimes come as ungrateful, but we are very grateful for the open-source products and you ought to know that.

Where is the follow_symlink option? Could not find it. Can confirm otherwise that a symlink does not work on sshfs.

Ah on the client side, my bad. I thought it was somewhere on the server side. I tend to avoid symlinks. I will have to try this for the next drive I set up.
